Description

The 5k cross country course at Franklin Park in Boston is a historic and challenging course, widely considered one of the most iconic cross country venues in the United States. Located within the largest park in Boston's Emerald Necklace, the course is known for its natural, rugged terrain and a layout that offers a true test of cross country running. After the initial loop around White Stadium, runners encounter Bear Cage Hill, a significant climb around the remnants of the old bear enclosures from the park’s zoo. From there the course takes runners into a wooded area of the park. This section is known as the Wilderness Loop, a twisting, scenic path that adds to the course's challenging and natural character. The course is a true cross country course with varied terrain, including grass, natural paths, and some tree roots. The layout is designed to be runner friendly with wide turns while providing a genuine cross country challenge
